Kooperationspartner Heat GmbH
As a result of a cooperation agreement with the company Heat GmbH, the Dräger Safety Academy has been able to add another site in Düsseldorf to its existing range of offensive indoorr firefighting. The Academy's customers already include part of the local heavy industry, as well as airports in the near vicinity. The gallery in which the seminars take place comprises a number of containers set up in a row. Its size means that several crews can train in the gallery at the same time. The seminars focus on themes such as the deployment of thermal imaging cameras (TIC), search and rescue operations in smoke-filled rooms, fighting of fires and flashovers inside buildings, and fire fighting on board ship. For some of the participants, even visor panes fogged up by condensation can pose quite a challenge. The contents of the seminars can be adapted to individual customer requirements; for example, the stationary training gallery can be used for certain types of training in conjunction with the proven mobile fire simulation system, the Fire Dragon.
Adaptation of the fleet of Fire Dragon mobile fire simulation systems
Drawing on its experience in high temperature training and its successful projects in the German states of Hesse and Bavaria, the Dräger Safety Academy has redesigned and enhanced its mobile fire simulation systems, generating a broader scope of training and exercises.
The new Fire Dragon is an impressive piece of equipment, not least because of its innovation, the 30 square metres of space it provides for training purposes, its variety of fire types and the scope it offers for fighting fires via the roof, a door or a window. The latest technology and diversity of different training scenarios ensure that the success story of the previous systems will continue. Another challenge provided for the participants is an external fire where a tornoff aeroplane engine is the object of the training exercise.
A further seminar in the area of high temperature training is the "Trainer for the Gas- Powered Fire Dragon“. This additional qualification means the best possible preparation for the exercises in the training galleries and allows the training scenarios to be tailored to the needs of the individual participants.
Practical seminar in Sweden
Participants are taught more about the basic principles of high temperature training in the practice-oriented Flashover seminar. Training is carried out under realistic conditions – using real fire, for example – at one of the largest fire training academies in Scandinavia. In the trials and exercises, the participants are given the chance to thoroughly practice the different scenarios in which recognizing and fighting the individual phases of the fire are the primary focus. A large part of the training is designed by the participants themselves.
