Dräger Safety AG & Co. KGaA (Lübeck)
presents the X-am 3000, a new mobile
multigas detector for the continuous
measurement of hydrogen sulphide, carbon
monoxide, oxygen and explosive gases. The
instrument is available as a three- or fourgas
detector with the following sensor
combinations
- Ex, O2, CO
- Ex, O2, H2S or
- Ex, O2, H2S, CO.
The three intelligent electrochemical sensors
(O2, CO, H2S) have an expected service
life of four years and only require calibration
every six months. The catalytic Ex
sensor is highly sensitive, resistant to
poisoning and reacts quickly to combustible
gases. The large, easy to read display shows
all measured values simultaneously.
Simple operation even in tough
environments
The three-key operating concept and
straightforward menu system make for
virtually self-explanatory operation of this
instrument, which weighs just 550 grams.
The sturdy gas detector, which is dust- and
splash-proof according to the ingress protection
rate IP65, is ideally suited to the
sort of tough applications which typically
occur in industry. An optional rubber housing
protection increases the instrument’s
resistance to impact and falling.
Internal pump and data logger
The optional internal pump, when used in
conjunction with a hose of up to ten metres
in length, enables all-clear measurements
to be performed before personnel enter
shafts, sewers or other confined spaces.
The pump starts automatically when the
pump adapter is fitted, and gives an alarm
if the gas flow is too low, for instance as a
result of a kinked hose.
A data logger is also available as an accessory
and is used to record gas concentrations
and alarms over a period of 40 hours.
The data are then sent to a PC via the
charger station, and can be analysed and
displayed using the Dräger GasVision software.
Power supply
Power is supplied by replaceable NiMH
rechargeable batteries and alkaline batteries.
Depending on battery type, this gives
between 18 and 25 hours of operation.
Recharging the batteries generally takes
four hours.
The X-am 3000 can be used in a very wide
temperature range from -20°C to +55°C at
a relative humidity of 10 % to 95 % and an
ambient pressure of 700 to 1,300 mbar
Approvals
The X-am 3000 features a declaration of
conformity with EC type-examination certificate
in accordance with the provisions of
Directive 94/9/EC (CENELEC Ex approval),
and protection classes II 2G EEx ia d IIC T4
and I M2 EEx ia d I. The instrument's electromagnetic
compatibility has been tested
in accordance with Directive 89/336/EEC,
and the instrument is CE marked. For the
USA, the instrument is UL approved as
Class I, Div 1, Group A, B, C and D.
