Our Employees

We take our responsibility for Dräger employees very seriously, as we know how important each one of them is for our company. It is our employees who make the company so strong and vivacious. That is why we give our all for them – from their first step on the career ladder up to their retirement and beyond.

We offer them the opportunity to develop their skills and personalities with our wide-ranging program of continuing and advanced training measures. Additionally, we offer our employees numerous social benefits and services to help them achieve the right work-life balance.

We hope to gain and strengthen the trust relationship we have with our employees through these programs and create a pleasant and familiar atmosphere in our company.

Continuing and advanced training

We help our employees prepare for future challenges effectively and efficiently through our comprehensive program of continuing and advanced training measures.

Along with qualified management training, integrative measures and project management seminars, we also offer outdoor training schemes away from the daily hustle and bustle as part of our personnel development program. Here we combine theoretical elements with challenges in the great outdoors and attempt to apply the newly acquired knowledge and skills to everyday work situations.

Our recreational program LUNA also encompasses many other opportunities for personal and professional development, ranging from IT training, language and health courses to sport and leisure activities.

Social benefits and services

It is a tradition here at Dräger to take on the responsibility of providing for the well-being of our employees. It therefore goes without saying that we offer our employees numerous social benefits and services.

We gladly spread the wealth with our profit sharing program or help employees in extraordinary situations with funds from our Dräger social fund. We also work to secure our employees’ futures financially after retirement. We offer an attractive and efficient corporate pension plan with three levels of provision as well as favorably priced life insurance.

With anniversaries and reunions, we provide special services for honoring our long-serving and former employees. We also cater to our employees needs in the truest sense of the word at our works restaurant with subsidized meals.

Work-life balance

Employees must be able to strike a balance between career and family. As a family company, we know how important the balance between professional commitment and personal plans for the future is. In 1993, we received an award naming us the most family friendly company among large firms in all of Germany. Thanks to a flexible work model, an innovative flextime concept, part time and work at home positions, we enable our employees to find the right balance for them.

In an effort to ensure that our employees’ children are well cared for during working hours, we reserve places in nearby childcare facilities. Work-life balance is a fixed and practiced part of our company philosophy in every respect.

Diversity

We attach great importance to diversity and consciously apply it both as a way to exploit opportunities and as a success factor. Our company’s products are used in more than 190 countries worldwide, exposing us to diversity on a daily basis. We believe that it is essential to appreciate the differences in culture, language and mentality as part of our corporate culture and to embed this in the mindset of all our employees.

Creative talents of different nationalities shape our company and enrich it with their diverse professional and life experience. A continuous exchange of ideas is part of our everyday routine and constantly provides new impetus. We use our diversity to learn from each other and make our company successful in the long-term.

We embrace diversity and view it as an important part of our corporate culture as was reflected in our signing of the diversity charter in November 2008. Each year, we select projects which take us one step closer to achieving this goal. We would like to present two of these projects from 2008 in more detail.
